Cooking up Healthier Futures

Bringing people together to cook, eat, connect and flourish.

Thousands of people across Dorset struggle to cook affordable, healthy and tasty meals. More than 380,000 are at medium to high risk of food insecurity, and a further 90,000 are experiencing acute food poverty.

The Friendly Food Club helps people build the skills, confidence and healthy habits they need to create lasting change. Through friendly, community-based cooking sessions, we support vulnerable groups across Dorset to improve their wellbeing, strengthen resilience and break the cycle of food insecurity.

Changing Lives Through Food

“I had no idea… I didn’t know where to start. I’ve learned how to put ingredients together to make things taste good. The guidance and the recipes have actually helped me to balance my diet. If you have no idea, like me, I’d really recommend The Friendly Food Club”

At The Friendly Food Club we help people:

  • Learn practical cooking skills
  • Eat healthier on a budget
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Connect with others and reduce isolation
  • Improve physical and mental wellbeing

See Our Session In Action

Our friendly tutors and volunteers deliver welcoming sessions across Dorset, brining people together to cook, share meals and support one another in a relaxed, non judgemental environment.

Donate today

When you sit down for a meal tonight, thousands of people across Dorset can’t share in what you’re about to enjoy. Nearly half the population of Dorset, Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch are now food insecure.

"I really wanted to be able to budget and cook tasty, healthy meals. I am now batch cooking, using herbs and spices and buying fresh but cheaper ingredients. I’ve also lost weight, and the classes keep me busy and interested.”

Help us help even more families make changes like this, to eat well and feel better. Every donation helps us reach more vulnerable people with our targeted, effective support.
